Yup it's a problem that we need to address Yep we have been making alot of players to strong since day one. From here on out we are going to have to be more carefull and the let the TC and spending take care of the guys more than just editing them to be very good to start.

This draft is alot weaker then last years.. Maybe we need to step down slowly each draft.. But as we have seen, TC and spending even does not assure you a stud. DRob was A- inside to start, he has been camped, still has potential, and still only 16 ppg... You just never know..

Honestly this draft should have two good players:
C - Derrick Coleman B+ C+ C A- B A
PG - Gary Payton B B- A- A C A
with Payton being the strongest... and even now he's starting out a bit to strong on the offensive side. I would go something more like B- C+ A- A+ C- A I think that would be much better.

If you are going to take away his outside game which he developed later on in his career you damn might as well give him a great inside game with high strength. It's gary payton he was the best PG after stockton in this era. You and Josh and a few others are the guys who put GP where he is now and as he sits Hardaway was better rated last season so it is a step down...

My main concern: creating rookies with grades > A-
In my opinion who creates the rookies should make the best prospects firsts and go from there.
Example :
This is how I think the 2 best prospects should look:
C Derrick Coleman B C C- B+ B A
PG Gary Payton B- C+ B+ A- C A
With A potential and spending they could turn into A- C+ C- A- B+ A and B+ B A A C A on their rookie season and they'd be studs since day 1.

Yep. Here are 4 ITP players: Player 1: A A- B+ A+ C+ B Player 2: B+ A- A A C B Player 3: A- A C+ A+ C+ D Player 4: A- B+ B+ A+ C+ C 3 are Perennial ITP All Stars/HOF calibre players; one is a rookie. Anyone guess which one the rookie is?

Player 1= Jordan Player 2 = Tim Hardaway (changed it from my error of Len Bias) Player 3 = Bird Player 4 = Drexler

Len Bias is no rookie! You tricked me, I was looking through Hardaway, Rice, Kemp, etc, I thought I was going crazy.

I changed it to Hardaway so it's correct.
My point of the post was really just to show that when we line up a rookie next to a HOF player, should they look so similar in ratings already?
As I've said before, I defer to josh and some of you other draft/ratings gurus that know a heck of a lot more about FBB than I do (which is limited to what I've learned here in the ITP). I state the disclaimer that I pose questions without being willing to offer up an answer, so please, don't ask me what Hardaway or any other rookie should look like. I just express a slight concern that when you factor in TC's and player spending, these guys are becoming HOF caliber players by age 22.
Lebron and Kobe are the exception-type players, and I think we should be careful about "creating" too many of their type. How we do that, or if we do that, I will yield to those with more experience than I.

Yeah I thought it was kinda crazy to start off Hardaway the way we did, he's gonna be Magic in a year or two.

Seriously thought I wouldn't mind Ric's suggestions for GP and DC, and then alter the guys below them a little, so they're worse than the big two.
(And then continuing with this lower rookie starting point for future drafts)

The fact is TC is not a "sure" thing...You guys act like a player is going to go up all the time.. I had Drexler the first time drop in 3 catagories when he had an A potential and I had to spend thousands in camps to get him back close.. Hardaway was good, but he doesnt do anything like those other HOF players... Also, camps have proven they are only worth the money some of the time... I still think we should stick with Josh's ratings.. But I dont know, seems the guys who had good picks and made the players high rated last season seem to be low balling everyone this season because they have no picks... I say you dont low ball the ratings because 3 teams who have no 1st round picks this year say so.. FDA was all about making the last draft huge to get us here... The suggestions on the top 20 came from Utah Josh, and I think I trust him more then 3 guys with no picks pushing for a very low ball draft...

C Derrick Coleman B C C- B+ B A
This guy looks like someone from last year's draft.. Pervis Ellison to a T, and look how bad a player he is this year and he was camped... That would be very sad to see DC look like Ellison after TC..
But 2 of these guys are in my division and I have what should be the 2nd best pick in the draft.. Wonder if thats a part of the low ball thing.. Didnt you guys see this season? The best team on paper can leave very early in the playoffs...

That was a chump move right there. I can go ahead and say "Heat don't wanna make the draft pool worst because he's got a potential top 3 pick" But that's low, you know? Also what's the point of lying? I remember you trying to make Danny Ferry a star, and everybody else that had a successful college career. insidethepaint.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=leaguediscussion&action=display&thread=505&page=1I don't see a whole lot of "FDA was all about making the last draft huge to get us here" Do you?
