'12 All-Star Candidates
ITP8 '12 All-Star Game is just 5 days away so it is time for some candidates!
But before I give you the lists I will make a quick intro about the trends that I observed when picking players. So, iteration started with teams going mostly inside and after 12 Seasons it seems like East evolved to outside high scoring while West moved to balanced mostly. Evidence of this is the stunning amount of star PGs and SGs in the East with at least 4-6 players for each position that I think would make the game if they were in the West. And meanwhile you see more depth in the West lists for Forwards / Centers.
But anyway, let's talk candidates!

Stephon Marbury CHA 34 39.8 31.9 5.4 8.9 1.2 0.3 3.4 0.464 0.778 0.421
To start we have East PGs with best player in the league LaMelo Ball and maybe 2nd best Killian Hayes. So, Ball should be a lock but for 2nd place I see a wide open race between Hayes, Nash, Marbury, Francis, Ford and Stoudamire with all having epic performances; And it is hard not to imagine Hayes considering he last missed it in '06 but if you check numbers both Nash and Marbury for instance top him in some categories meaning it could be anyone really.

Rudy Fernandez NYK 37 38.4 26.3 5.5 4.2 2.8 0.1 1.8 0.481 0.857 0.468
For East SGs, I see 2 of Allen, Penny, Bogdanovic, Rudy and Lavine in no real order honestly; And Bogdanovic has the best stats and won a Player of the Month so he should be a lock except for the fact that he missed 7 games. Same reason why I am hardly considering Drew who missed 9 games. So East should see 2 new SGs this Season replacing Drew and Kobe. And one could be Rudy that first took Kobe's SG spot and now is going after his All-Star position. it is interesting to note that this would be the first All-Star for Penny or Rudy and just the 2nd for Allen.

LeBron James MIL 39 38.3 19.2 8.6 4.2 1.4 0.5 1.7 0.424 0.76 0.392
For East SFs, I see a similar scenario to that for SGs and Mashburn should be a lock although again he might not make it because of missed games. And besides him, I think Pierce is a good candidate if you go by points volume and low turnovers although Wiggins and James also have a case if you add the rest of the categories. And so does Grant and maybe Green. And I have no idea if it affects Wiggins moving from West to East recently.

For East Power Forwards, I think Smith and McCoy will repeat last Season picks as surprisingly high as Beaty's stats look right now and again, no idea if it will affect Smith his recent move from Magic to Raptors but yeah, competition for East PFs isn't that high. And Smith and McCoy did miss some games but only a few.

And for East Centers like with Power Forwards, I think Hawkins and Traylor should repeat picks with Hawkins as a lock leading the list for both, points and rebounds. Maybe, Lovellette has a chance with more points than Traylor and decent assists although I doubt it.

Mike Conley LAL 34 38.3 28.1 5.4 7.7 1.6 0.1 3.1 0.438 0.797 0.416
For West PGs, I have Iverson listed first and possibly making the game for a 5th consecutive time although only lock I think it is Pee Wee because if you compare created PGs Kirkland has the upper hand in almost every category compared to Nightingale who made the game last Season. So I think it should be Pee Wee and Iverson or Pee Wee and Nightingale although you also can't discard Conley with his leading points (and his much improved performance compared to last year).

For West SGs, I see a wide open race between Edward, Wade, Jordan and Greer although not sure if Jordan is an option with 5 missed games. And same applies to Fred Jones that also had decent numbers but I discard him because he missed 8 games. And compared to last Season, Roy is now in the East and Petrovic is not looking that impressive so West should see 2 new SGs.
