BEST OF '12 NOV-DEC
Welcome to the first '12 edition of 'Best Of'! So, what happened during November and December?
November started with Knicks killing it as expected but with Kings making a statement that they are back and ready to regain territory that they lost against last Season West division leaders Wolves and Clippers.
And for awards, top candidate LaMelo Ball owned most of it with Player of the Month + 3 out of 4 week awards. Most interesting award I would say was Wilt's Rookie of the Month in his race to win ROY against Jordan although it is also true that Jordan missed a couple of games for November.

December was a bit of the same in terms of Knicks leading but also proxy Heat and Celtics stepping up and Heat's 10-3 is particularly interesting because they moved some assets before Season started but still managed to find the right lineup for winning. And finding Sonics at 4th is also surprising because after a bad November for them they were ready to blow it up as their trade block suggests.
And for awards, last Season champion Bogdan Bogdanovic got the Month Best award with some guys questioning his contract but with Bogdan proving his worth in the court. Although, Pistons is in fact in a weird territory right now barely missing the Playoffs. But more surprising than Bogdan winning was LaMelo not making it for any of the December weeks. So only Hayes made week awards both for November and December. And for ROY race, Wilt the Stilt won just another month award with Jordan playing all games this time. Wilt sure looks like a finished Big Man product so far. And he is only 18 and with top potential.

For top individual performances and like last time around, I picked 7 players from the top 50 for EFF (filtered for winning performances only) and also like last time around I had LaMelo Ball and Killian Hayes included plus some new faces like Sabonis and Rudy Fernandez.
For League Records (and almost Records), Nov-Dec had a new record for player assists plus a couple of game records including points and 3pts that speak about how scoring keeps growing with an always increasing tendency towards outside offense.
And finishing with Triple Doubles and borderline Quadruple Doubles, I got 18 TDs 17 of which came from PGs! And the other one Mashburn did. So Mashburn might have had the best losing performances for the Best of + the only non PG Triple Doube. Nice! Lol. And among PGs, you can see LaMelo (shocking) and Spencer Dinwiddie having the most TDs with 3 followed by Steve Franchise, Steve Nash and Nick Van not Excel with 2.
And for Closest to QD, Mighty Mouse Damon Stoudamire was only 3 rebounds short in 6th game of Day 1! That one was really close because Damon also had a Triple Double in that game with points, assists and steals and those are really rare (because 10 is still the record for player steals).
Note: If you click on links during future Seasons, remember to replace the 'ITPstats' part with 'ITP8/2012'.

For top individual performances and like last time around, I picked 7 players from the top 50 for EFF (filtered for winning performances only) and also like last time around I had LaMelo Ball and Killian Hayes included plus some new faces like Sabonis and Rudy Fernandez.
BEST PERFORMANCES
1) Arvydas Sabonis - 38 pts, 15/19 fg, 15 rebs, 6 asts (SF, Clippers, day29)
2) Killlian Hayes - 44 pts, 16/24 fg, 13 rebs, 10 asts (PG, Raptors, day6)
3) Rudy Fernandez - 51 pts, 18/24 fg, 5 rebs, 8 asts, 2 stls (SG, Knicks, day7)
4) LaMelo Ball - 47 pts, 20/28 fg, 7 rebs, 10 asts, 2 stls (PG, Knicks, day40)
5) Steve Nash - 60 pts, 6/9 3p, 10/10 ft, 7 rebs, 6 asts (PG, Celtics, day35)
6) Bogdan Bogdanovic - 57 pts, 23/29 fg, 8/9 ft, 11 rebs (SG, Pistons, day1)
7) Jordan Nightingale - 35 pts, 26 asts, 3 stls (PG, Wolves, day35)
COMPLETE EFF LIST
1) Arvydas Sabonis - 38 pts, 15/19 fg, 15 rebs, 6 asts (SF, Clippers, day29)
Sabonis' performance was 6th for EFF but made it to 1st place with a 143 to 134 win against a tough Pacers in Indiana; And Mashburn actually was the player of the game with a performance that might have been best for EFF for the entire Best Of (do not record losing stats) but that only made Sabonis winning performance more unique I think with solid numbers + very high efficiency.
2) Killlian Hayes - 44 pts, 16/24 fg, 13 rebs, 10 asts (PG, Raptors, day6)
At #2, I have Hayes in away 115 to 111 win against Rockets and I also considered Rudy and LaMelo for this one but ended up picking Killian because of the triple double performance. And if you go to Triple Doubles watch you will see other triple double high number performances but those are not in the ranking because they didn't make the EFF cut that I use (usually because of low shooting efficiency) plus this was in an away win that is a big bonus for my consideration.
3) Rudy Fernandez - 51 pts, 18/24 fg, 5 rebs, 8 asts, 2 stls (SG, Knicks, day7)
This one was the first big time performance for Rudy in his debut Season in 146 to 121 away win against Blazers. Fernandez was particularly good in this game for shooting efficiency plus high volume that led to 51 points on 75 FG%.
4) LaMelo Ball - 47 pts, 20/28 fg, 7 rebs, 10 asts, 2 stls (PG, Knicks, day40)
At #4, I got usual suspect LaMelo in 132 to 113 home win against Jazz. So I had Rudy at #3 because of the away win and Hayes at #2 because of the TD but Ball was still impressive 3 assists and 3 points away from an efficient 50-10-10 stat line.
5) Steve Nash - 60 pts, 6/9 3p, 10/10 ft, 7 rebs, 6 asts (PG, Celtics, day35)
For 5th place, I picked Nash with the highest points game of the Best Of in 135 to 123 home win against Magic. Nash's 60 pts came with decent efficiency plus some rebounds and assistants.
6) Bogdan Bogdanovic - 57 pts, 23/29 fg, 8/9 ft, 11 rebs (SG, Pistons, day1)
Bogdan was #1 in EFF for winning performances which is why he made the ranking in 123 to 92 away win against Spurs. Bogdanovic had efficient 57 points plus decent rebounds. And I admit I moved him down in the ranking because I thought it was against a very weak Spurs but you see Spurs at 10-14 so maybe Bogdan could have went higher. But anyway...
7) Jordan Nightingale - 35 pts, 26 asts, 3 stls (PG, Wolves, day35)
In #7 and last place, I picked Wolves product Nightingale that had a record performance for assists in 136 to 110 home win against Lakers. Nightingale not only had 26 but also 35 points on ok efficiency.

Cavs @ Blazers game in day 13 was simply nuts with a super high 155 to 144 win for the Blazers; And if you check the score you will notice that game did not need an OT for the record and that Portland had 8 players in double digits!
3P/ Pacers@76ers - 31 (day26) *League Record* : 3 over rc
Indiana and Philadelphia had a 3pt battle in day 26 with Pacers outscoring 76ers 19 to 12 but good enough between the 2 to break a game record. PGs Ford and Austin were particularly effective scoring 8 and 6 3 pts each.
Steals/ Spurs@Bulls - 42 (day14) *League Record* : 7 over rc
Spurs and Bulls had a steal party in day 14 or more of a losing ball party (see turnover new record) breaking the previous game mark by far and without the need of Overtime. Game had a clear winner in Bulls though plus Penny with 10 steals to tie player league record.
Assists/ Heat@Kings - 70 (day3) : 7 from rc

To add to what was said for the steals record in the same game, each team had 28 turnovers and were 3 turnovers away from team record plus both share the teams turnovers record for this Best Of. Turnovers madness!

Nightingale was a point god in day 35 breaking assists record (previously achieved back in 2006 by Randy Smith) and not he assisted with just 3 turnovers but also scored 35 points producing for a total of at least 87 points. Him alone created more points in this Best of that some teans as a whole!
