TDs & almost QDs of '03 MAR-'11 APR

This will be the first of 2 articles for records from the time I stopped doing these till present Season. So this one is for Triple Doubles and almost Quadruple Doubles and I will make an intro although I will be brief because compiling the data for the two articles was a bit of a mess, lol.

About the data, each block corresponds to a period of 2 months in chronological order from top to bottom. Only 2004 is in one block for the entire year just because... And what you see is the list of triple doubles with the corresponding links and the performances that came closer to a quadruple double. And for each block and at the end of each Season, I added the count of players for each list to compare. Triple double lists are inside spoiler tags that you click on to see. Haven't checked if tags work using mobile but it was either that or lists that would take forever to scroll.

About observations to be made on the data, it is interesting how between '04 and '07 the count of TDs oscillated between 34 and 38. Then they dropped to 30 in '08 and recovered to 32 in '09. And in '10 and '11 they went way up with 44 and 41 with the addition of some players from D-League I suspect. And at quick glance, you see some of those names in the lists for '10 and '11.

About players that show up more frequently, LaMelo obviously heads the ranking part of the reason why he won 8 MVPs. And wont count his totals for the periods presented here but if you go to his page, you can read that he has 51 TDs for his career which is quite something. And after LaMelo, you see guys like Mcw (22), Hayes (10), Ostertag (10), Iverson (9), McAdoo (9), Giannis (6).

And finally before going straight to the data, about Closest to Quadruple doubes you may notice that Foots Walker in Nov '06 and Allen Iverson in Mar '09 actually got really close with only 2 values of distance. And then, Iverson also got close another time with 3. And Hayes was also almost there a couple of times with 3 of distance. And so did Malachi Flynn. So as you can see it was PGs most of the times that got close. But Drew at Sg got 3 of distance at one time and so did Noel playing big. If you ask me I would say it is easier for a big to get a quadruple but you just wont see it here because bigs that can block usually have low passing and those that can pass have low blocking like Jokic basically. And when Noel had 3 of distance he actually missed it by 3 blocks even though he has the League Record for blocks, lol. But yeah, generally speaking what I said must be why most of the closests are PGs and not necesarily those with more TDs. For PGs in all cases, the hardest is to get 10 steals with Hayes having that record exactly for the league. And actually that steals record performance had Hayes 3 assists away from Quadruple Double.
