Just thought it would be interesting to review some predictions I made through some articles.
First of was my end of season standings.
Prediction
EAST
1- Knicks
2- Raptors
3- 76ers
4- Celtics
5- Wizards
6- Cavs
7- Nets
8- Hornets
WEST
1- Kings
2- Nuggets
3- Suns
4- Lakers
5- Blazers
6- Sonics
7- Mavs
8- Rockets
Actual rankings
EAST
1- Knicks
2- Raptors
3- Celtics
4- 76ers
5- Hornets
6- Heat
7- Nets
8- Bulls
WEST
1- Kings
2- Mavs
3- Lakers
4- Blazers
5- Suns
6- Sonics
7- Nuggets
8- Warriors
Looking at this, for the East I had 6/8 team right, and only the Knicks, Raptors and Nets at the right spot. Celtics and 76ers are swapped and other teams got in. for the West, 7/8 and only 2 teams at the right spot. Only the Kings, which was an obvious one and the Sonics I got right. Warriors got in instead of Rockets. Not too bad in term of picking the teams, but the actual rank was bad. It is also very hard to do considering this was 7th sim out of 17 haha. West was also fairly easy to select who would make it since there was not really a race. It was mostly the 8th spot and then the actual position in the standings that was hard to do. for the East, there was more of a race at the bottom of rankings so it made it harder.
I also predicted the rookie of the year and the 2 rookie teams. Here is how I did.
Prediction
ROTY : Petrovic
First Team
C: Hot Rod Williams
PF : Sabonis
SF : Rodman
SG : Petrovic
PG: Hornacek
Second Team
C: Daugherty
PF: Tarpley
SF: Berry
SG: Greer
PG: Price
Actual Results
ROTY : Petrovic
First Team
C: Hot Rod Williams
PF : Sabonis
SF : Rodman
SG : Petrovic
PG: Hornacek
Second Team
C: Daugherty
PF: Tarpley
SF: Berry
SG: Greer
PG: Price
I have actually gotten the predictions all right. As I have said in the article though, most of those were basically already set in stone. The only ones I had to actually think of were ROTY, PG, SF and C. At the time, I had predicted Hornacek as the PG for the 1st team since he was better overall in Assists. I had a feeling that would probably mean a lot to the sim at the end of the season. I had also predicted Rodman, because although he was a little lower in points per game, he was higher than Berry in rebounds and also had more blocks/steals in general. I also ended up being right for this one. Finally the C position I had a feeling Williams would get it because at the time, Williams simply had better numbers. Same amount of rebounds, but more points. Which seems to have held up through the rest of the season.
