Here they are
No changes at the top again, still the same teams. Boring! Some changes at the top middle and some at the bottom. Let us see what is going on.
Hot:
Suns are blazing hot in their Last 10. Currently 9-1 in their last 10 games. They are currently killing it and it shows in the standings and in the rankings. Current sitting at 8, they have passed Wizards, 76ers and Bulls who are all .500 or below in their last 10 games. The Suns are currently the hottest team in the league behind the Knicks. Knicks 10-0 in last 10, Suns 9-1, then Raptors at 8-2. At 0.687 Win percentage, they are the 4th best team in the league. They seem to have caught fire at the last minute, which is where you want to catch fire.
Other top team in the West has fallen into cold mine water. The Nuggets are now 4-6 in their last 10. Granted they lost to the Kings, Celtics, Lakers, 76ers and an incredible team like the Warriors. They need to find their way back into the Wins category. They are playing some middle of the pack to bad team for the rest of the season, so I would expect them to go back to over .500 for the Last 10. Regardless of their 5-6, they still gain ground in the rankings. Making it to the 9th place behind the aforementioned Suns.
Now let's talk about that green team from Bawston. Celtics are currently 7-3 in Last 10 games. They are also lighting it up at the right time like the Suns. Beside the 1 game vs the Lakers and the 1 vs the Raptors, they have a seemingly easier schedule. With that being said, they still need to get the W's. If they keep it up, they should be able to secure the 3rd seed in the East and make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs before facing Raptors or Knicks.
Not:
Now if we look at the bottom of the standings, the Clippers are currently 2-8, yet have not moved in the rankings. That is interesting to see considering they are on such a cold streak. Team decided to blow it up since they do not feel like they can win, yet they do not own any of their firsts. It will take a while for them to be able to rebuild or they need to go get some 1sts somewhere and not care about the fact that the Wizards currently holds their 2 next first rounder. Get someone else's firsts and hope you get something decent or hit it big in the lotto.
Another straight ice team is the Pacers. While they lost 2 ranks in the rankings, they also lost 9 of their last 10 games. It is currently freezing cold over there even if we are in October and the rest of the US and Canada is hot and bothered. Obviously at this point they are just going for the 1st overall pick if they can, by going as low as possible and get higher chance in the lotto. That being said, they do have some good pieces in Wade and O'Neal. The latter who had a rough couple camps now looks very good for a big. They should be in good hands.
Another team that has lost their last 8 is the Pistons. Oddly enough, they are gaining ground in the rankings. Showing that this might not be the perfect model to predict the rankings versus the standings. They will also be in the hunt for that 1st overall. After this season they would have Marbury and this year's first rounder that should be the backbone of the team. Then Garnett on the front court as the leader. They just hope that the rookie they get this season can develop fast enough so that they can use Marbury, Garnett and that new rookie for the threesome. Unless Garnett decides to resign there, which is always possible.
