We will be looking at the all rookie teams and then seeing who has a better chance of getting the rookie of the year trophy. I have made tables for each position that can be seen below
If we look by position. 2 positions do not really have any race for best rookie at that position. SG and the PF position are basically locked in by Petrovic and Sabonis. They are far and away the bests at their position and will obviously make 1st team rookie. There is some sort of a race for the other positions though.
Let's start by looking at Point Guards. Really the Point Guard race is between 2 players. Price and Hornacek. They are both not doing terribly currently. 8 points per game, 2.4 turnovers for Price and 2.9 for Hornacek. Hornacek has more than 7 assists per game, while Price has about 4.5. Price is a better shooter and Hornacek is a better true point guard with the assists I suppose. I would have to think that the sim will prefer Hornacek because of his assists total and that he is slightly better in steals.
For Small Forward, it is a race between Rodman and Berry. They are 2 totally different type of players. One scores and gets a good amount of rebounds, the other one gets a lot of rebounds and can score a little as well. This one is probably a toss up at this time. Rodman has 4.8 points per game but 9 rebounds, while Berry has 8 points per game and 6 rebounds. Rodman also has a slight advantage with his defense/stocks. I would have to think 1st team would be Rodman in this case.
Lastly, for Centers, it is currently a race between Williams and Daugherty. Williams is currently in the lead though with 12 points per game and 7 rebounds while Daughtery is at about 10 points per game and 7 rebounds. Daughtery is more efficient though in his shooting with 46% shooting vs 40% from Williams. Williams has slightly more blocks per game. I would think this one would be going to Williams.

SG : Petrovic
PG: Hornacek

As for the rookie of the year award. This race seems to be between Sabonis and Petrovic. Currently, Petrovic is 21/5/5 and 1.3 steals while Sabonis is 14/10/3 with 1 block per game. They also both have 2 rookie of the month award at this moment. Petrovic winning it the first month and this last past month while Sabonis won it in month 2 and 3. This is a very close race I would assume. Both guys doing great at what they are asked to do. I will still pick one of them right now and since Petrovic won it this last month, I will give it to him. Reasoning is because that means that lately he has been doing better than Sabonis, though that could change since it has already change twice now in this race. Obviously, I might be preaching for my own player. But again, I think so far this is a very close race and we will see how it ends in a few sims.
