Today I am trying something a little different. I will try to make an actual article out of the content in the table. We will see how it turns out and if you guys like it, let me know.
Little bit of movement at the top of the table today. Raptors and Lakers have not moved. Knicks keep climbing the ranks, which kind of makes sense considering their record. It is funny to see the Raptors being first in SPG, TOPG but also oSPG and oTOPG. It is like they know how to steal it, therefore they know how to not get it stolen from them or something. If we look at League Leaders, they do have 2 of the top 7 Stealers in the league, so it sort of makes sense. Obviously it is not just Hayes and Roy since Trailblazers have #1 and #6 in the leaders and are not first is SPG. Knicks are the best at scoring, which seams to be the case most seasons I have been in the league. After the top 8, lots of movement in the rankings. Most noticeably is Rockets going up 11 rankings. That is pretty impressive. Their current record makes them mid of the pack in the rankings and the standings. no massive drops today. Nets is the worst one with a drop of 6 ranks, but it is not that bad considering yesterday someone dropped 11 ranks. Early in the season, the averages still move a lot at this time, so the rankings will still move a lot. At the All star weekend the rankings should be more stable and it will be interesting to see if it matches with the standings in some way.
Lakers are also doing well for themselves as the #2 spot in the rankings. Currently they are 4th in the West in the standings, but they seem to be doing things right since they are #2 in the rankings and are sitting #2 for 2 days in a row. We will see if the Knicks will be taking them over tomorrow. Lakers are top 10 in most categories but oFT% and o3P% which is pretty good. Knicks are not top 10 in 6 categories which is dragging them down to the #3 spot.
Warriors are the highest team with lots of #29. 3 last place rankings as a 19 in the rankings. We can see we are fairly high in a lot of ranks but really low in many others. Our issues seems to be mainly rebounding and stopping the other team from shooting. We give up many many points yet we steal the ball a lot. So it makes sense we are dead last in opponent FG%. When they shoot, it goes in no matter what. The Bucks are very much struggling in most of the categories. They do not get their shots blocked, that is the good part, but even then, they do not need to, they just miss their shots themselves. Maybe they are trying trick shots during games to avoid getting their shots blocked, but they still need some practice. Perhaps it will pay off at the end.
Obviously this table will keep evolving and I am hoping that later in the season, this will tell a better picture and we will see if it gives a good picture with the last day rankings vs playoffs. Which is what I am really interested in.
