Playoff prediction time. With the final days of the season rounding out we have the first round match ups set and idiots like myself trying to predict who will come out on top of each series.
76ers vs. Celtics
Season Series: 76ers 4 - Celtics 0
Prediction: 76ers (4) - Celtics (0)
Predicting the sweep from the 76ers here. The most dominant team is league history potentially, putting up 69 wins in the regular season are dominant at all starting five positions (Deshawn Huh being the exception but impressively put up great numbers this season). The Celtics just cant compete. If the Celtics even plan to take a game off the 76ers they will need Embiid and Harris to have the games of their lives and even then the 76ers stars will have to put up some of their worst games.
Bulls vs. Raptors
Season Series: Bulls 1 - Raptors 3
Prediction: Bulls (2) vs Raptors (4)
Raptors have been one of the hottest teams in the league since the half way mark. Starting off slow, they have turned their season around closing the gap with the Easts top teams. It is interesting to note that all of the Raptors vs. Bulls match ups occurred in the first half of the season prior to the acquisition of Tayshaun Prince. The Bulls run one of the top defensive backcourts in the league which could be trouble for the Raptors as the their top 2 scoring threats will be playing against Harper and Beal. Keep an eye out for these match ups because if the Bulls can stop the Redd and Gordon duo this series could easily go the other way.
Pacers vs. Hawks
Season Series: Pacers 4 - Hawks 0
Prediction: Pacers (4) vs. Hawks (0)
Another sweep. I think the regular season series says it all. It was a complete shootout between these two teams in each game this year but the Hawks just can't handle the Pacers offense. The Pacers averaged 133 ppg this year against the Hawks and I don't expect much different results in the playoffs. With a large portion of the Hawks offense being driven through young talent Cole Anthony, the Hawks offense may struggle up against back to back MVP Marcus Smart. If Meyers Leonard can keep Dwight Howard in check, the Hawks don't stand much of a chance.
Cavs vs. Pistons
Season Series: Cavs 3 - Pistons 1
Prediction: Cavs (4) vs. Pistons (1)
A couple of close games this season between the Cavs and the Pistons is keeping me from predicting another sweep. During the regular season the Cavs started off 0-1 due to a loss to the Pistons. I thought FDA was going to blow it up after this loss and start the rebuild. Thankfully he didn't because after some roster tweeks including sending Curry to the bench and making Parker the starting PG, the Cavs went on a roll. Although the Pistons had a great season, they struggled in the second half and see that following them into the post season.
