I think in fairness you need to look at his four best years, and remember all of those defensive MVP trophies he had, and that he won a couple of rings too, if I am not mistaken.

I am voting no right now, but am hopeful that he will stay above the 20% mark, because i may change my mind in future years. right now 5 years of alright offense and superb defense isnt quite enough for a HOFer. and he won a ring with the jazz in 84 and one with the bullets in 89

I also voted no. Like the Sonics I hope he remains on the ballot for future years, because he was an amazing defensive presence for the first few seasons of the league. One thing I noticed was that he was only named to 1 all-star game, although he was named Finals MVP one time too.
I guess for me I think this should be the Hall of Fame, not the "Hall of Very Good". Maybe his accomplishments will look better a few seasons down the road.

I say yes. He was the best defender at 1 point. No one was close to him, he did have some big time scoring years as well. There will be some players that will get in to the HOF just based off offense cuz they play no defense. But shouldn't a player who plays lockdown D get the same support?

Jazz vote yes, here's why:
Look at his first five seasons in the leauge. Cooper averaged 16.7 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. Three straight Defensive player of the year awards in 1984-1986 and was the anchor of the Utah defense that won the title in 1984 and went to the finals in 1985, while leading a defense that gave up just 88ppg. He added a second championship in 1989, averaging 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks off the bench for the Bullets.
Cooper is the best post defender and shot blocker that we've ever had in this league, and at the moment, his limited minutes in his last three seasons are holding him back with some voters...It's a shame if he doesn't get in.

Everybody here loves to say "Defense wins championships", yet when one of the best defenders ever is up for the hall of fame, we already see 4 no's? He was a game changer, he was a winner, AND HE'S A HALL OF FAMER!

Cooper spent the best part of his career before I joined ITP. But looking at his stats from 1984-1989, those defensive numbers/awards are phenomenal! His offensive numbers are far from sexy, but I'm betting he wasn't counted on to put up sexy numbers there either.
I'm voting yes, because he may end up being the best defensive player the ITP ever sees. If there were more players on this ballot, I could see making him wait to get in. But in this particular class, I think he is in.
