Hey, if some of us knew you could wait until you see if a guy resigns or not before you choose to use the extend option we would have done that too.. Its kinda not fair to us that have not got to used it and we just didnt want to lose our guys so we went ahead and used the $600 option. I dont mind it being allowed but I think you need to look on the list of players who the $600 option was used on and give a half cash credit back to each team that has used it when they might not have had to.
I will volunteer to be in charge if you approve John and give a $300 credit back to all teams including yours that used that option.
Its really only fair when you think about it. Like I said, if it is allowed from now on thats fine, but if its allowed now the like 9 players that the option was used on need to recieve a credit back for half of what they spent...

that just sparked what maybe could be a new rule??? it's 300 for an 'in season extension' but 600 to extend for one year if they choose to opt for free agency....so basically you don't spend the 300 in season, see if they want to sign long term and if not it's like you have a team option for 600......or double that to be 600 in season like it is (or was supposed to be) and if you want to wait and see your fate, it's 1200 to extend again if they opt for FA.....so you spend 1200 to guarantee you have them for another year, rather then let them go to the dogs in FA........?

Good idea Ace, I say the $300 in season and $600 so they dont opt out. Nobody would pay $1200 to keep a player just 1 more year. I like it alot... That way the Grizzlies and Knicks still pay $600 for each player now that they have seen them opt for FA but you can choose not to even take the risk by spending $300. Still just 1 per player of course making it unable to really take advantage of anything..

So WHY WOULD I WAIT ON CONNER HENRY?? LOL
With no bird years Henry would have tested FA anyway, so i'd be better off spending the $300 within the season and not the $600.
You give me $300 discount on Conner Henry and I actually like the idea. I'm just not getting screwed over without a fight!!! eheheh

Where is he? John - the most wanted man in ITP! I say whoever finds John will get $600 reward.

I actually liked the within season extension and after re-signings decisions extensin.
It would have been a nice twist to make the game more interesting.
Anyway I just don't want the Knicks to get screwed over for not having a clear rule on this and for being sure I could wait for player's re-signings. Obviously I'd have spent the $ on Conner Henry because he was going to test. The others (LaSalle, Cooper and Ellis) I was hoping they could ask for a contract and even if they didn't (just Ellis didn't) I'd have bird rights on them thus being able to offer them up to max contract in FA.

well heck another thing is if we waited untill the resigns to see what they wanted or opted for free agency then if someone did want to resign but they made $4 mil this year but wanted $12 mil for each of the next 6 seasons then after seeing that i could have just went ahead an extended their contract instead of agreeing on their demands....
everything should have to be done before the seasons flip, imo...

I was informed I could wait for re-signings and decide to buy the extension or not.
I am not really confortable with what's happening here, so some of you may think it's lame, but my desire to keep playing in this league will depend on what happens and how the league decides to deals with this issue.
For me this is as simple as this:
If I'm not allowed to spend $600 on Conner Henry and $600 on Dale Ellis like I was sure I could do, I will step down from my GM position.
