True, but do you wanna just make the playoffs or do you wanna contend for a title? And to me it seems like you win with big men.

maybe. i of course want to win the title, but i would rather make the playoffs every single year and have a chance to contend for the title than have another rebuild and be awful for 2 or 3 seasons. i did that once, which worked out well for me since i had no idea how to play the game at the start of the league, but i dont want to do it again.

Everyone wants to make the playoffs, but just because you make them doesn't mean you're realistically contending for the title. And no offense to all the Philly GM's but every year Jordan was there none of those teams looked like championship contender. And why? Big men (or lack of big men). Last year they had a very good Moses, but a bad center, and in the years before it was the underachiever Barkley.
That's just my opinion.

I gotta disagree with you there. Mark Eaton was a beast, and even now that old fart is still a DPOTY candidate.

oh yeah, i forgot he had eaton.
i will just reiterate a prior point in that MJ has had nary a training camp, compared to magics 8 and birds 6, imagine him with a couple inside camps and scoring camps, or more necessary, handling camps.

I'm not trying to knock Jordan, he's amazing, and the fact that he never been camped is nuts. I'm just wondering about the importance of his position.

True. Though your PF wasn't all that great, and Nuggets exploited him with Oakley.

LOL. None taken. It surprised us too! As for just making the playoffs, the Nuggets are a prime example that just getting in is over half the battle. When you can exploit a matchup, you can upset the apple cart in a hurry. We were 37-45 on the year, and came within 2 points of forcing a Game 7 that could have ended up putting us in the Conference Finals. Sure, I'd rather be built like the Bulls, Heat, Bullets, Grizz, etc., but I'm not convinced you have to approach 73 million to have a shot at this thing if you have the right plan.

On the quiet trading front, I have received a few offers, but nothing that I feel benefits me yet, so I declined. I have sent a couple out too, but I was declined for MJ (and should have been), and I have yet to hear anything at all back on a couple others.
I'm a little surprised at the lack of responses on trade PM's. Shouldn't be that hard to send one back saying it's under consideration at least, or just a simple "No thanks."

No one has been sending me trade offers via PM... Maybe that's because you people know the Knicks won't be moving Sam Bowie, LaSalle Thompson if you don't make a great offer. As for Drazen Petrovic, he is UNTRADABLE - not even Jordan & Ewing would make me hesitate saying NO! lol On a more serious note, I've been a bit away from the game and I'm thinking that the motivation to be active enough in order to building a powerhouse and winning it all is fading away... in reality, because of various reasons I saw this coming and it was just a matter of time, hence the lack of desire to make trades. Hopefully I will still have fun coaching Drazen Petrovic until he retires, or else I'll step down and let someone else enjoy the ride in NY.

I have not recieved any offers, but maybe it is because I only have 5 players on my roster. Nobody wanted to resign with me at all. I have to use Bird Rights just to get Len Bias back and fill the roster with minimum salary players.

I made a big deal today, giving up the #3 overall pick for three firsts next year, all of which could be good. It gives me 8 1st round picks for 1991, including some that should be pretty solid...We'll see what happens.

I think that's a great trade, number 3 pick is nice but it's a top 2 player draft (DC and GP, and then everybody else). You get a Magic pick that could potentially be number 1 (That's what they were this year), a likely lotto pick in TOR, and a mid/late teens pick in Philly.
On Rocket Side, I think they overpaid, BUT now they got 3 of the top 9 picks in the draft, which should give them a nice young core to build around.

yeah i might have gave a bit to much up...but i should know what i will prolly get this year and who knows what i will get next year...
with legend taking the magic, with a lot of money, that team just might improve to a top of the rung 9-13 lotto pick, also i figure the raptors will maybe be around 9-10 again, the 76ers should not be a lotto pick...
either one of us might come out ahead, thats the chance josh and i took, makes it interesting...
my 3 picks might not be superstars but they should be solid players with room to grow into a good core to build around, and when i add free agent ewing to the mix then i figure i am good to go for a while...
