Nobody seems to want to deal this offseason... Wonder when it will blow up... I went all out for 1 of the top 3 players in the league and offered Halifax the #1 pick, McKey, Pooh Richardson, and my 1993 1st all for Jordan and he turned me down. Then I offered him Drexler and Mike Brown and Pooh for Jordan and he declined.. So I tried..I understand... Then me and a few other teams couldnt hook up.. Just wierd there isnt much action..

I offered for Jordan too, and didn't get a PM back. I guess that was a no.

I pushed for Jordan as well. Ioffered Anderson and Webb for him.
I really think he thinks he going to get like 3 top players for him. Hakeem has been thrown around and the most ever offered for him was Ewing and Mullin but they were not fully developed.
I have been trying to make moves, most of them turned down, but others I have that could go down thats if I do not come up with any other type of deal.
So at some point I should have at least a trade or 2 done.

Until league training camp there's a gap going on as to what you're actually trading. your guys may go up or down. . .Making trades takes time and effort. . . .I've been on a reduced energy kick. . . no articles, no trying to trade. . . .more just watching.

salaries are making trades much harder also. i will come across players that are relatively cheap to trade for, but i dont have enough worthless salary to match up to make a trade.

And then we go from having a realistic sim league to a fantasy basketball league.

I like the salary cap restrictions on trades, makes GMs have to be savvy with their cap money!

well none the less the 15% rule restricts trading. The Hard cap rule stops trades.
I suppose it depends on your point of view. If you enjoy playing a puzzle that is more difficult to solve. . .15% rule is a winner. . . .Personally I always enjoy the feeling of accomplishing a trade. . . .just happening less frequently at the present time. Particularly difficult is the exchange of a Vet who has say a $8M to $10M salary for a third year player (not a super star) with about a $2M contract. . ..that trade is just not going to fly with teams near or over the soft cap. . . .which most teams are. . . .

perhaps that is a lesson that GMs need to learn....and will need to stop overpaying for guys, and having more FAs signed in days 4 and 5....but there will always be teams like my Hornets that will throw a big chunk of cap at a guy just to bring in a face of a franchise....ah well

Yeah more people need to be like the Wolves. Most of his 60+ win team returning with 22 mil in cap room.

Well play is more difficult in the stronger Eastern Conference. . .The Heat are almost at the cap. Bulls and Knicks are over and the Bullets are $4M under. . . So the four best teams in the most difficult conference should be considered quality GM's. . .know how to play the game to win. . . .All will face the 15% problem by the time FA is over. . .
The Cap is there to spend. . . .Teams that stay under the soft cap are in effect saying you play with a $73M cap. . .I'll try and beat you with $53M.
but then the game makes one of the pleasures of the game more difficult. Hey I don't like it. . .but I understand that's the way the game is played. Now, this FA I'm unable to offer minimum contracts during FA. . .I don't like that either . . I enjoyed trying to get a guy to sign. . . . So I don't draft because I trade my picks. . ..I don't make the playoffs. ..I can't trade easily. . .but I get to offer a MLE and a LLE. . .and play the regular season. . . .
hmm. . . .

such is the NBA, trades are more frequently about salaries than talent. in theory we should see less protests now that salaries are so much more difficult to deal with than previous seasons.

He doesnt want 3 top players, he did say he would take Drexler and Benjamin for Jordan and something to offset the salary.. But although I love Jordan, I just could not trade Drexler who is only a step down and Benjamin both to get him.. But there are some good talks because of this, I am glad I posted it...

Well that right there is pretty crazy for just Jordan. Two players that are least in the top 3 of their positions for a guy who is the best offensive player but very turnover prone. When I ment 3 top players I ment towards the likes of players that would play key roles, all good scorers who play very good defense.
What he asked for from you is pretty insane. MJ is great and all bit a team wins more than just a player. So to give your 2 best players for just one would not make much sense.
Maybe I go with Wilkins and Anderson for Jordan. But I am sure he would turn that down as well. Being of what he asked from you.

Jordan is great and all, and I'm sure everybody here would love the idea of having him on their team. BUT as amazing as he is Philly has gotten by Round 1 once in 6 years with him, you win with bigs not guards.

well, not everyone is able to pull the trigger quickly on a top player, especially the best player in the NBA of all time. he also said he MIGHT go and wants awesome offers. you cant really blame him for not taking what you deem to be fair value. and really when you are talking about top players signed long term (for a relatively cheap deal, non bird year 10% raises...) he isnt in any hurry and will try to make a team changing type deal.
I had the same thing happen with Hakeem last year when i blocked him, just to see whats up. I got a few offers that were fair value, but i didnt want a fair trade.
