Contract Extension $600 Adds one year to a contract at the value of 110% of the previous year (Can only use this once on a player, and this must be used by last sim of the playoffs.) Ok so, can we wait until the ITP Finals to decide if we want to spend $600 in order to extending a player's contract? FBB outputs re-signings (players decision on wether they want to test FA or ask for a contract), after the regular season is over, aka day 120, which means the commish has access to this info. From my understanding in ITP re-signings threads are not posted until the Playoffs end right? So we won't know if a player is testing or not before deciding if we want to spend $600 to extend his contract, but the commish will? I'm confused. What's the purpose of having re-signings only posted after the Playoffs end? And if owners must decide on spending $600 on contract extension before knowing if a player is asking for a contract or is going to test FA, then why wait for " the last sim of the playoffs"? Shouldn't we have to do it before the last sim of the Regular Season, aka before the game engine outputs players decisions? Note: I'm probably spending $600 on Petrovic's contract extension no matter what or when, due to salary cap issues, so the only reason I'm bringing this up is because I think this is all a bit confusing. Surely someone will explain it to me and this time I will be able to make the best decision for the Knicks, ehehe.

You must have the extension posted by the last sim. If you post it after it will be voided, no I dont not see or know who will ask to resign or test FA until after the finals sim. Spending is not allowed during the playoffs only for contract extensions, this is to give me less work to do as I have alot to do at end of playoffs and season. All player improvement spending ends at last sim of season, and extensions can still happen until last sim of finals.
The game does not decide who will resign or opt out to FA until after the finals otherwise we would do things differently.

In my version of FBB you can see who opts out to FA and who asks for a contract on day 120. You just go to menu Franchise and select Player Contracts and you use the team filter and check every player's decision by clicking them... and use the NEGOTIATE button to accept the deal they are asking (in case they want one).

I dont do this way because we do it after Finals sim which helps to give me a small break after alot of work. I spread things out alittle in offseason to help me from burning out and not wanting to commish like I have in other leagues I have run. So we do it after the end of the season because I do the lotto, resigns, season flip, FA, then TC all in a row to fill up a sim schedule.

Ok, I understand that, but because we have a contract extension rule, don't you think we should do it before the game outputs players decisions on wether they want to test FA or ask for a contract?
You being commish, makes you able to check player's decisions on day 120 (not saying you actually do that, but you could) and no one else is able to check it until after the playoffs. I sincery believe that the re-signings thread should be posted at the forum after day 120, and that contract extensions should be made BEFORE day 120, aka before the last sim of the regular season.
You see my point John? Assuming you can check player's decisions on day 120, why would you spend $600 on a player if you already know he asked for a contract? The only reason I can think of is the same reason I'm spending $600 on Drazen Petrovic: salary cap issues.
I raised all these questions to make this a better league and I'm aware how much work a commish has to put, so if you think it's a lot of work, maybe you could delegate someone the task of posting the re-signings thread after the last sim of the regular season is run. That's how it's done in every league I know. Owners will have all the playoffs period of time to decide about who they want to re-sign or not and you can do process it by using the Franchise/Player Contracts menu whenever you have the time, instead of having to do it at once after the Playoffs end.
Just an idea. I'm not questioning your methods by any means, just trying to help and make it a better experience for you and for everyone else playing in ITP... and a more fair one in my opinion.

The point is I dont check until after finals, this way I dont know anything til then and its less work I have to do during the playoffs which I said before no player improvement spending, and putting some of the stuff after the playoffs gives me a small break as its easier to sim in the playoffs so I dont get burned out and close the league. So I nor would the owner know if a player who possible would resign, or go to FA will do either until after the playoffs. This is the gamble we all take for resigns, FA, contract extensions. I also recommend to extend a player before his final season.. thats what I have done on all my players I have extended in the past.
And the point is you dont know if they will resign, I dont check, I dont know nobody knows. This is how it works for all of us, its the same as spending to improve a players inside if he is high inside there is a chance he is at 98 and inside scoring is +6 you could waste it because of where he is allrdy. Its the gamble we all take when spending without any of us seeing the ratings, or resigns.

I think we all agree that NO ONE should know player's decision before deciding to spend the $600. I'm not saying you are going to check it on day 120, but you could. You see my point John? Sometimes to be above suspicion you have to look above suspicion and by doing it the way you're doing it, someone may point the finger and all you can say is you did not look. I have no reasons to doubt your word, but it would never be an issue, if you simply weren't able to check it with FBB just like everyone else can't.
Once again I'm just posting because I feel it could be a good decision for ITP, if we make a small change of this rule.
My suggestion:
Everyone should decide on spending $600 for contract extensions before the last sim of the regular season is run, aka days 113-120.
As simple as that.
Having the re-signings threads posted on day 120 or after the finals won't matter and you could do it whenever is better for you John.
Does this make sense to you guys?

I'll just go back to my old rule that all spending is to be done by final sim of season.
and to be honest I have never checked resigns using the way you say until after a season because it just takes the fun out of being a commish for me.
Anyways NO spending allowed after final sim of season. This will start after the season flip.

So we can still do the contract extension during the playoffs this year?

I do believe you and I'm not saying you did check it, I'm saying it's possible to check it immediately after the final sim of the regular season.
So I think changing the rule is probably the right thing to do. The only disadvantage in this is that team won't be able to use the cash they make for making the playoffs or player awards during the current season. But on the other hand all teams will be on level ground this way.
So this season we're allowed to spend after the playoffs start correct?
Oh and if you need any help with the re-signings thread I'm sure ITP has plenty of veteran owners that will step up to the plate, guys like Josh, Don, Gritter, etc. Being commish is a lot of work and we all should thank you for doing it and help you if needed.

you can do contract extensions for this post season, after that we will be going back to the old rule that you cannot spend on anything after final sim of season til season flip.
