We talked about this before but I didnt restart the discussion on our new forums (here). I want to put a rule in place that limit the number of 1st round draft picks a team could hoard. This would prevent one team from locking down a entire draft and really taking the fun out of it for other people.
So lets start the discussion on what number of 1st rounders a team could have per draft.

yeah with the hornets having 5 players signed for next season and 14 draft picks i was watching with some interest in how he was going to make all of this work...
i did figure he was going to trade/sell a few of the picks after the season was over as so after he knew where they were all going to be and which ones he might want to keep for sure...but even then he would have to move a bunch of players and/or picks to even clear up 15 roster spots and also for any free agents or resigns he might have/want...
i would think something in the 3-4-5 range would be ok...

I'd suggest if there was a rule, put it around 8... that way a team looking to rebuild through a particular draft could still collect enough picks to have a pretty good shot of getting one of the top 3 picks that they likely desire.

I was thinking making it 5 that way if a team was in a major rebuild they could get 6 1st rounders and the 2nd rounders per draft. This would give them basically 5 starters and a backup, and its double the amount of picks (years out 3) we can trade.

I'd say 5 is plenty.

That seems like a reasonable number.

6 total sounds good. I wouldn't make it lower than that imo.

Why do we need a cap on this? I don't have a problem that Ace has this draft on lock...Good for him for making the deals to get there. We've seen teams own certain drafts before, and it's definitely a strategy.
I don't have a problem with it, but whatever.

If CHA having all of the 1st's this year is "taking the fun out of it for other people", then those people shouldn't have given him their picks!

I don't have a problem with a team having half the picks of the draft.
Good strattegy? I doubt it.
Anyway I'm cool with whatever.

I might put this to a vote this offseason, and it wouldnt go into effect until after the upcoming draft since we would be passing the trade deadline and wouldnt give people time "if" anything went into place to adjust.
