Lakers send: Ken Norman and lakers 1989 1st round
Pistons send: Mario Brothers, Pistons 19901st round, and $200
I seem to have a big problem with understanding over the cap trading. . .
Lakers are under the cap by quite a bit. . . .the Pistons are over the cap. . .
Lakers are trading a player with a salary close to 2M and the Pistons guy is well under !M salary. . . . .The Pistons will increase their cap further over the soft cap. . . . and are not within 115%. . . .I thought if they reduced their cap it would be legal. . .not the other way around. . . .
Would somebody help me and clarify this element of the rule.

Not sure. Though im kinda confused why the Lakers are trading their lottery pick for a 90s pick that could be in high teens/lows 20s.

thinking about this a bit. . . if I'm over the Soft Cap. . . it doesn't seem that should give me the right to then add any additional salary without restriction. . . .No matter who I trade with whether it is someone over the cap or under the cap. Over the cap we know you have to be within 15%. . . . if you're both under the cap and the trade puts either of you over the cap. . .no dice.
My understanding is if you're over the cap and reduce your salary with a partner who is under the cap. . . that's ok. . . .
. . .but what if you trade with a player under the cap. . .and you are over the cap and increase your salary. . . I'd think that is not legal. . .. sigh. . . such a complex game.
