Teams with 35 or less wins will get first chance at signing left over free agents. This will be part of the sign to 12/15 and it will 1st post 1st get for those teams. They will be allowed to sign to 15 if they choose during this part of the left over FA.

Good idea to do it now. Free agency is getting stronger. Therefore the free agent leftovers are getting stronger.

Holding off on the changes to 30 day rule for now. still going with this one though. I can’t find the 30 win rule thread anymore. But I really think the issue of new GMs coming in and getting ripped off can be solved with a trade council in place and a probation period for new GMs. I can help assemble a trade council. I think having been here for a while I have a decent sense of who would be good candidates for a trade council.

The reason again I don’t like the 30 win rule is because it makes it really difficult for bottom teams to turn their teams around quickly if the opportunity presents itself.
I can think of two examples in the past couple seasons which I personally have been involved where an under 30 team made moves to become competitive and they were deals which made sense or were at least reasonable.
1. Detroit Piston dealt Chet Walker to LA Lakers for Webber, Bing and Lavine. This took the Pistons from a bottom feeder to an immediate contender and it worked well for the Lakers who were heading for a full on rebuild. This was a big exciting trade which is good for the league.
2. Raptors traded KAJ to Utah for #2 (Mourning). I know people didn’t love this trade but it propelled Utah into a playoff position and a legit team with young stars already in place. This might be a bad example because it was a proxy team trade which people didn’t like the 2 pick leaving a proxy team. But if this was not a proxy team then this trade makes complete sense. You can’t just have a ton of rookies on your team because you simply can’t camp them all. You are wasting talent year in and year out, see the Bucks for example. At some point you gotta make a move to go for it.
Being able to trade top picks is great for the league in my opinion. They are exciting and high risk trades which is fun even if controversial. I think people get too hung up on potential of what a player can become as opposed to what a player currently is. Players bust or don’t live up to their potential all the time AND they cost a ton of cash to develop well. If a trade makes sense then why not let it happen?

30 win rule will not go away. After wizards tradein should have forced 60 day. Or we establish a trade council. If it’s a fair deal then it will go through. If it’s a bad deal it won’t. I can handle the trade council (that’s if no one has an issue with me doing so - I get it if someone doesn’t trust me to do so). I don’t want it to be any additional work for you. And ultimately all trades will run through you for final veto. I understand your stance after the wizards deal. But this shouldn’t be the example the sets the precedence for any future trades. L

L Yeah exactly - Wizards trade is the best example why we need trade council, cause under 30 wins rule does not work anyway.

We have a trade council. Just not used in forever as a trade needs 3 votes per the posted rules of veto.

Wolves, Lakers, Kings at moment. 2 spots to be filled after owners resigned.
