John, great series bud. Would have loved to get that home win in game 6, but you have a great team. Congrats!

Zach LaVine era ends with a whimper. In his 3 seasons with the team the Pacers have won exactly 2 games beyond the 1st round. Goes to show what you get when you stock a bunch of your team's value in the SG position. I think people are crazy thinking Jordan, a SG, is a better pick than Wilt.

Goes to show what you get when you stock a bunch of your team's value in the SG position. I think people are crazy thinking Jordan, a SG, is a better pick than Wilt. Well that's you. But let's look at the last 7 championship teams. Toronto - Brandon Roy Toronto - Dr J (Roy hurt) New York - Stoudamire New York - Stoudamire Philadelphia - Willoughby Philadelphia - Willoughby New York - Kobe 5/7 Were all league performers. Under max contracts = putting heavy stock into the SG position. And it worked right? Willoughby being the exception. But while he was never a star. He was a star in his role. Effienct 18-20 point scorer with elite defense. I would argue he might have been Phillys most valuable piece in the first championship. So is investing in the SG position really the worst thing you could do?

All seven of those teams were carried by PGs who were at least top 5 players in the league.
Edit: I might be wrong on the Philly teams. I know they didn't have Maledon, can't remember who their PG was.

I know they didn't have Maledon, can't remember who their PG was. Foots Walker was one of them. 12 PPG 7 APG. Probably not a top 5 player. Eric Money was better the next year. But id say he was closer to top 50 than top 5 player in the whole league. I'd also say that "carry" is a strong word. 3/7 of those examples are 30+ PPG scorers. The 4th guy Erving was an MVP, and a killer when he was inserted at SG for the injured Roy. Though I won't argue PG is of greater importance. But all I'm saying is SG matters. And investing in that position is probably a good idea based on history.
