Woooh, let me tell you this trade season has been much more active than the last one. Therefore this article has been more difficult to write. However, let's try to more fuel into the fire.
(Grizzlies) Mickey Johnson for (Magic) Maurice Lucas
Orlando Magic is an interesting team with some promising talents hanging just below playoff line. They can still make it, but the key area to improve - rebounding. Mickey Johnson would certainly bring a lot of power to all in-post matters.
Trading him away would "help" Memphis to lose more games, as fight for better draft odds is very intense now. In addition, Maurice has expiring contract, which is great if Memphis wants to add someone during next FA.
(Heat) Nerlens Noel for (Timberwolves) two picks (2009, 2010) Tyus Jones, Kendrick Perkins, 500 cash (and Saddiq Bey to match salaries)
Minnesota have been looking for starting caliber center. Defensive Player of the 2007 should fit this job. Could they still make the playoffs with this addition? Not sure, however, Nerlens is definitely not a one year project.
For Heat, this could potentially be at least one lottery pick. 3rd year player Kendrick Perkins has been performing surprisingly good, while rights to resign young point guard Tyus Jones could become handy too. Finally, cash is always needed when you rebuild.
(Spurs) Rex Walters + Shawn Respert + 300 GM cash for (Hawks) Leandro Barbosa + World B. Free + current first round pick.
Hawks had few nice runs this regular season and they could have potential to make some surprises in the upcoming play-offs. One thing they desperately lack is outside shooting - Atlanta ranks as 5h worst in this category. Also, better guards in general, as now they start with Thabo Sefolosha who hasn't seen similar minutes his entire ITP career.
With regards to streaky shooters, you can't get much better than Rex - 30 PPG point guard who even tortured LaMelo and the Knicks last season. Respert would move to starting SG as well. Yes, Barbosa looks very promising, however, what Atlanta also lacks is cash to develop all their young players (they also have Pierce, Person and Ben Wallace on rookie contracts).
Meanwhile Spurs get rid of 18M off their next years cap, gets intriguing talent and someone to grab at mid-late draft. Not bad, having in mind that collecting valuable future assets is kind of struggle in this league.
(Hornets) Kyle Anderson and Isaiah Stewart for (Nets) Michael Carter-Williams and George Gervin
Recently the Nets, probably unhappy with their performance, have been shopping their stars. What I think they lack is reliable wing player and that is who Kyle is. From the Hornets point of view, they do not really have true point guard and MCW could move their offence over 100 PPG mark. Meanhwhile at SF position Hornets has Rick Barry, who proved himself this season.
Both Isaiah Stewart and George Gervin are underused in their current teams, so change of scenario here could benefit all sides too.
(Bucks) Mark Price + current first round pick for (Nuggets) Joel Embiid
Before last season, Denver formed incredible frontcourt of Embiid and Joe Smith. However, with no real support from guards, both seasons Nuggets been on the verge of not making play-offs.
Trade 3 sims before the end of regular season not gonna change much in terms of where draft pick would land, meaning that together with talented point guard (finally!) Nuggets get top 5, maybe top 3 pick of this nice draft. Resign Peja, get solid amount of GM cash for Joe Smith to develop Harper and Mark - sounds like a quick fix for Denver.
Meanwhile Bucks has been rebuilding since forever, next year is the contract year for Lebron - how about you move your ass towards elite teams? If not now, then when?! Imagine Embiid - Lebron - Bibby entering next season - AND they would have cap for one more MAX contract. That's scary if you play in East.
