Season one - 44 wins Season two - 48 wins Season three - 46 wins Season four - 46 wins est.
However, in the first three season the Nets finished 2nd in the Atlantic and this season will finish fourth.
Only the Bulls, Heat, Pacers and Nets will have produced a winning record every season. (Notice all four teams are from the East)
The Nets are also one of only 8 teams in the league that will have made the playoffs every season. Still, you'd have to classify them as just decent mediocrity. Looking ahead the Nets have all but Williams returning and that could spell the beginning of a serious decline. On the other hand last season four of their starters had the possibility of entering free agency. Will the Nets find a way to endure being neither good nor bad?
So what are the Nets prospects for next season. . . .I'm going way out on a limb and predict 45 wins.
We've experimented a bit this season but we're going back to our standard lineup and put Moore back at PG, let Moncrief move back to SG and use Levingston at SF, Williams at PF and Ruland our steady if not spectacular Center.
This will be the lineup we'll use to face either the Bulls or Heat in the first round. My guess is a sweep. . . .over quick and painless.
Our projections for the final 8 games.
Nets at the Warriors - Nets lose Nets at the Bucks - Nets win Knicks at the Nets - Nets win Hornets at the Nets - Nets lose Spurs at the Nets - Nets win Pistons at the Nets - Nets lose Nets at the Grizzlies - Nets win Nets at the Pacers - Nets lose
Final record 46 - 36. . . .been there done that.

curious that in the East the Hornets are a 6 seed, but in the West they would be a 3 seed yet every time the argument is brought up that the East is stronger people bitch.... nice recap don....there might be a day we can compete for more than 2nd place

Only 4 teams with winning records everyyear in league history? I did not know that. Good info, and I hope you get out of mediocrity some day.

Don't think of it as mediocrity...try consistency. It's better for the self esteem.

I wouldn't feel bad about being in the same category as Heat and Bulls as only team with winning record every year. That's something to be proud of!

1984: 66-16 ECF Champs 1985: 69-13 Champions - GMoTY 1986: 73-9 ECF Champs 1987: 72-10 Champtions ??
That's what I'm hoping we'll see tho.
It's sad to be getting worse now... even if only by a little...but really how do you get much better than 73-9?

To Ace: The East has been much better the last couple seasons (mainly because the Jazz and Mavericks both went into the shitter and the Kings have become mediocre), but the West is still 2-1 in ITP finals. Something tells me that will be evened this season...
To Don: It's impressive that your team has always had a winning record, but it's also really interesting that with teams that all look totally different, your win total has always been between 44 and 48. It's definitely consistency, but you always seem to be one player away from really contending. Unfortunately this season, 45 wins only earned you an 8 seed, which means a first round sweep at the hands of the Bulls. One big move in FA and you're competing for the East next year...Good luck.
Nice article.

I think another big reason the east is better right now is because more than half of them don't have picks. Knicks sold off like 10 1st rounders to win now, don has yet to pick in round 1, and etc.
