After two straight finals appearances, and 1 finals win, I have been thinking this whole season about making a move. Initially I was thinking Ming, as I had Barbosa locked up already. Ultimately, though, I've decided to take my chances. I get a new guard to pump camps in to, still under control for three seasons. I have some cap room, even with offering Ming the full 7 year birds rights max deal (which I DEFINITELY am offering, FYI).
It allows me to fill two starting spots for the cost of 1. Best of luck to Barbosa, and this futher solidifies the Jazz as the best starting 5 in ITP with Ford, Barbosa, Anthony, Chandler and Howard.

I think the blazers probably could've got more future assets in a barbosa deal but I understand how this makes sense for the blazers as they want to get younger without going full rebuild. Allen has serious potential if a gm squarely focused on building him

I offered Tony Parker. Barbosa is younger though. Dale Dsvis is 19-10 4 blocks and Tony Allen is going to make this bizarro world since he can score / shoot

Was running out of $ so allen would not have been able to be loved properly. I feel like when i cant camp my young guys they are being neglected good luck to him and maybe one day he can be apart of the jazz again.

Ill start off by saying I dont object the trade. I feel like the Blazers could have gotten something better. Not sure what the direction the team is going. Dale Davis is an elite defender who can score and the same looks like will be said about Allen, but I think he could have sold higher. What are the causes of a trade beingvetoed

I don't see it being vetoed. I think it's a good enough deal, it's not as egregious as some other trades I've seen go through with no discussion.

I didn't do a "Barbosa is available" trade block, because I have found that you don't usually receive very quality trade offers when this happens. At Barbosa's age, I just wanted to get a younger asset to pay attention to from a camp perspective, and Allen certainly fits that bill. Davis is older, but is still above average, and on a shorter deal so I'm good there.
Assuming I can keep Ming, I'm now looking at Ming/Davis/Allen, plus Oakley coming off the bench (or starting in a big lineup). I have room even with Mings' deal to offer BIG bucks to one player, or medium dollars to a couple of players. I've got to find a point guard and/or a wing player.
bluechips was correct in the stand point that I don't have my picks the next two seasons, so I certainly don't want to do a complete rebuild. I'm more looking to re-tool.
Perhaps the most intriguing part is that you (@bucksetball) have the Blazers next two first rounders. I'd think you'd be ecstatic that I've made this deal.....

Agree with Blazers. When you post a trade block then you tend to deal from a position that is not ideal. It says, "HEY LOOK I WANT TO TRADE THIS PERSON" or " HEY EVERYONE I REALLY NEED TO TRADE HIM".
It is a lot easier, and better, to send out trade offers

I dont think it should be vetoed or even go to council, but I do think the Jazz get a clear win in this trade for them. Blazers didnt get a bad haul but could be better

I did forget about the picks. Again im not saying the trade is bad. But in that case you probably shouldnt go after signing Yao. He wont be able to help you. Go full tank 😉

I'm late to this party, but I'll just throw in my 2 cents.... While I thought it was a lot to give up for Bernard King, I'd also play devil's advocate and openly say that the trade market has (just in my opinion) really sucked for quite awhile. Unlike real life, where if you want a star veteran, you would give up most likely a very high-ceiling young talent, and likely multiple picks, here that just won't happen. In real life, there are no letter/number ratings, so pretty much EVERY future draft pick has good value. Here in a sim league, GM's want the star, but in return, the focus is typically just on tossing back mediocre role players that will match salaries. Draft picks are often added, but generally from win-now teams that will be horrible pick values for the next 3 seasons, because the team was already probably a playoff team at worst (and typically a Title contender that is one piece away, thus wanting your star for the push to the top, and making those future picks even less likely to be any good). Those picks are, in most cases, useless. There's a reason we allow you to just shit-can any player drafted after pick #10 each draft. Trading a top player for picks that even remotely project outside of Top 10 is pointless, and honestly foolish. I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious when it comes to sim league trading. It's not something I personally enjoy at all. Cripes, that was long. I should have made this an article for cash.
