nets trade: Zarko Paspalj glen rice Billy Cunningham
grizz trade: 200 1980 first rounder Samuel Dalembert Otis Thorpe Adrian Dantley
I don't understand this trade for the grizz. Rice is nice but why not wait till after the year is over. You would of had at least a max to offer in free agency. Also who know what happens with the pick. 7th worst team at the moment and do to it being a lottery could of moved up. Dalembert is a nice young big who would compliment Jones and you already have Cliff at the SF position. I just think you totally jumped the gun and could end up paying way too much if that pick becomes top 5.

i agree completely. Dalembert is really valuable and moving a top 8 pick and cash with it for a max contract player that has a negaive STL:TO rate is a huge gamble. Dalembert with 2 camps could be a near 20-10-2 Center with his ratings (76 inside, 66 jumpshot,75 blocking, 76 n 81 rebounding,84 strength)- the only thing more you could ask for from a young center is a better Post Defense (52). He has only been to 1 big man camp, 1 rebounding camp, so if you just do that again before next TC, you are looking at a rebounding freak with around 80 inside scoring and 80 blocking.. Then on top of giving up that young gun, grizz are giving up the lotto pick. I dont quite think its in veto territory really but i am not sure. I do know Grizz couldve done a lot better for those assets he is giving up though.

Ace gave up a lot, but he got himself a legit 26 year old star. 71/84/99 scoring ratings, and his production matches the ratings.

A legit up and coming center, a lotto pick, and all his cap-space to build this team. It's not a terrible move but I feel now he is stuck instead of his team growing.

yeah, I gave up a lot but I needed to get a primetime scorer to pair with Jones and Cliff. I can find a C in FA no problem

yea. While the grizz got the best player, they ultimately arent in a position roster depth wise to take the gamble of absorbing the max contract. With only 2 legit starters in Rice and Jones with young Cliff Robinson, all ideally SFs, Grizz have 50 mill tied up in cap next year, so with only 12 mill to offer and so many spots to fill, unless he moves all his picks n cash, he wont be in a position to compete let alone be a top 3 team in the Midwest even.

The point was that you got a second max contract for a valuable rookie contract and a high pick when you arent in position to compete with only 2 stars. which still stands true. You couldve had dalenbert-Jones-Cliff-Rookie-Skinner with plenty of cap room to build with and a good pick next year; now your just in the twilight zone, too bad to compete - too good for a good pick, and not much cap flex to much in FA

I think he's done a nice job since the trade of putting talent around Rice/Jones. Got a nice value contract in Douglas. He's gonna have 10+ mil in cap to sign someone, and then have the rights to re-sign Skinner. Plus Cliff should get better and better. They have a chance to be pretty good next year and beyond.
