Two things bother me about this trade.
1) there was never an announcement/or trade block that stated John would be running the 76ers and making trades. Anybody that initially saw that trade probably didn't know what the fuck was going on.
2) What if once we get a new Philly GM he wants to compete this year? They're 7-4 and Nater is a key reason for that. Also the Atlantic division sucks.

Also the Atlantic division sucks. mostly new gms want to build their own teams. this way he gets some cash and a high pick I agree with point 1 but more in the way that new guys wouldn't realize john is running the team and there should be a notification. I assume that John runs all open teams unless otherwise noted bc that is the way I think it has always been

No, it isn't how it's always been. He has always had someone running a second team from a different conference.

I have run open teams since ITP version 1 unless I ask other owners to run teams. That has been clearly known if you have been in the league for a couple seasons. And I have run teams from east before Wizards, cavs, many more.

That's why when John runs a team he makes it clear to everyone so there's no need to assume. He posts DCs for the team, a trade block for the team. But in this case nothing, and then this trade comes out of nowhere. It's not even a bad trade. 650 is good value for Swen and maybe the 76ers are better off rebuilding. But it just doesn't feel right. Did anybody else know and send offers to John for 76ers players?

I had no idea that anyone could trade with the Sixers. Every time I can think of that John has run a team in the past, there was either an announcement or a trade block for that team. I never assumed that John would be making trades for every open team, and I've been here since day one.

I have all of my picks and cash available, specifically so I could make an offer for him, and I thought he would be a good fit on my team.

You could ask John to change Ripleys name to Ming since he's disgracing the once proud name.

as someone who isnt competing of wanted nater, i think the rockets should have atleast added chalmers/speights/mbahmoute. the 76ers didnt really get much back for a 26yr old Center that puts up 20-11-1-1.
I get why some people would be surprised that john pulled the trigger on a trade for the 76ers without posting a block, but i always assumed i could send a offer to john if i were trying to trade with an open team. I thought that was normal protocol.
