Mavs get: Roy Hinson and 300 cash Blazers get: Spud Webb and Albert King
I had Darell Walker as a good baCK up pg, and I needed a sf, now I only need a sg and Mavs will be good to go.

well at the time of the mavs trade to get spud the vegas odds were set to 1 1/2 years max before he was traded... the mavs said 'NO WAY' he would be traded, he was going to be a maverick for 10 years... the mavericks even put his picture on a billboard proclaiming, 'the future of dallas is here'... fast forward it has been only 1/2 a year and guess who is on the way out of town, yep the one an only... guess the thing in dallas is not to get your picture posted on anything or else you are gone... ;D

The Blazers pick looks better and better and I am also glad I did not get the Mavs pick now.

Not a big fan of this deal for Portland. But at least it's better than Turpin and co. Spudd is a solid young PG, but the Blazers better re-sign him.

I offered McHale, Woodson, Henderson, and a decent amount of cash for Hinson. Would of changed McHale with Livingston to make things better. But oh well. The best part is I had Mavs come at me with Hinston but asking for players far better than what he gave up. ;D

if everyone thinks that spud is so great, then why is he getting passed around like a hot potato?...
this will be his 4th team in 4 years...he hasnt play starters minutes except for his first year...or had really good stats since his first year
.....Team Games.. MPG...FG% FT% 3P% RPG APG ST TO PPG 1985 Celtics.... 86 36.4-.430-.800--.254 4.3 8.3 2.3 3.7 11.0 1986 Magic..... 78 22.9-.441-.842--.214 2.3 4.4 1.3 1.3 5.2 1987 Mavericks 75 29.4-.427-.910--.324 3.1 5.7 1.7 2.0 9.7
to me he isnt worth hinson's 20+ ppg/9+ rpg and $300 cash...
jmo, but what do i know...

I think it is a horrible trade. But it will never get the protests it needs, plus now that i said i was pushing for hinson if i protest it will look like i only did this to try and offer for him.

He's not worth Hinson. Especially since Hinson is signed to a slave contract. Spudd is just a solid (Not great) young point guard. I think Blazers did it because they needed a point guard badly. But it still was a questionable move.

didnt know hinson was such a hot commodity. who even knew he existed. atleast hes getting back a player who has decent ratings unlike his walton trade. that should be veto'd 10x before this one is.

Hinson has been a hot commodity since I entered the league two seasons ago. Of course you would know that if you were ever around accept to stir shit , whine, and bitch.
The 300 cash is the part that made me raise my eyebrows a bit otherwise Spud can be solid for the Blazers. Especially if he sends him to camps.

I agree. . . .Spud for Hinson pretty well works. . .though Hinson is signed and Spud's on an expiring contract. . .but $300 more

Another crap deal, and I protested it. I don't like it when this stuff happens to new GMs, as it makes them less likely to stick around long term, as they feel as if they're being taken advantage of.
Fwiw, I think that if a GM is new to the league AND FBB, then there should be a one week waiting period before they can make trades. In that time, they can browse the transactions thread and get an idea of how deals should be done, what trades are considered good and bad, etc. It's just not cool to throw a guy in and let him get run over.
After that it should be sink or swim (as is my feeling with any GM after their first week), but we need to do something to prevent 600 people protesting every trade.

I remember John making some rules to avoid all the protests, but everyone were against them. I have a feeling they're coming back

I have a feeling they're coming back Well there was that crap about the draft picks, but these last two deals have nothing to do with picks... I think something should be done to protect brand new GMs without hurting experienced ones, AKA a waiting period for noobs.
