I agree. After losing to the Nuggets and Wolves, its clear i need to rebuild this team with a different core. Nice dealing with you Sidtiancam. Good luck with your budding team, Magic-Dragic-Gill-King-Asik should work nice together.

Asik is also an overpaid role player

if im thinking right, this will probably go to the council, because the Blazers are a lotto team, and are trading a first round pick.
Asik is not a horrible player. double double player, 3 blocks per game. i could honestly see the trade happening if it was just Asik for Humphries and cash, if the Jazz were trying to cut some payroll, but not too sure about the pick being in this trade

I get you got players to dwarf Asik, but he's no slouch. He averaged 11 ppg 10 rbp 3.1 bpg as a non option on 2 teams packed full of scorers, and played a bunch of games off the bench. I disagree that he is overpaid, a contract like his for his rebounding/defense is actually a solid one, like Deandre Jordan, getting a non max Impact big or scoring guard is key to being able to field a great 5. With that said, i also believe blazers pick wont be near where it was this year, magic/Gill/King all getting better and with Asik the blazers will finally have a center to go with king to defend the rim while Magic passes to Gill and probably Dragic to shoot the rock.

i honestly dont think its as bad as afro thinks it is. if the pick is a non lotto, or if this trade pushes the Blazers to be a playoff team, then there is nothing wrong with the trade. but, it is a lotto pick, and JT is in the "no team trades a lotto pick" mode right now, so that is the only thing i can see hurting this trade

Nah Daboy it's pretty bad. A team with 19 wins should hold on to their next first round pick.

Gill/King/Asik frontcourt is not a playoff team!! agree with daboyn2gsu trade should have looked like Asik for Humphries and cash.
Blazers also have ton of free agents that can make this trade look even worse

thats honestly what i believe. I think the blazers, at worst will be around #8 worst record and have a shot to make it to the playoffs, especially since Nuggeets, Sonic, and I are all looking to rebuild, and the rockets are getting old and Mavs into Cap issues.

Nah Daboy it's pretty bad. A team with 19 wins should hold on to their next first round pick. not going to argue that. thats why i said Asik for Humphries/cash would have been fine btw, why you ignore me?!

What are the 2 positions that turn a bad team into a good team: Center and Point Guard. Blazers now have both with a young PF and SF. If he camps Magic's handling and Gill's shooting his team will turn around fine

asik is not really worth a first. Especially one for next year. Now if it was 2 years down the road I think this trade would look a lot better.

And you call me the politican? Lol. Let me tell you something, when you start making 4-5 posts defending what the other guy got in the trade, well then you just ripped him off. I know from experience.

If you think his record will be top 5 take my bet

I don't think it'll be top 5 because he's now gonna make short sighted moves to devalue the pick. But anyone with common sense knows he would have been better off long term keeping the pick. It's too bad. He should've listened to this guys advice. you will learn in time, new Gms come in and think they will make 2 trades and suddenly be able to win, guess what, not gonna happen.

once again i will repeat my point: ASIK is not a MAX! and has a good 3 yr contract and can be camped, so the Blazers will not be in ANY CAP problems in the future. They have a very good PG, a rookie shooting SF/SG and young Battier, and 2 defensive bigs if king resign, with plenty of money to spend. They did not give 2 or 3 picks, they gave one. They very easily could sign a big name in FA and make the playoffs, or move that guy to rebuild, but in no version of reality is Asik a bad player Or contract. Could he keep his pick and continue to suck, sure, but after another TC, Magic-Gill-Battier will get better along with king and/or dragic which would make their pick worse than this year. And i dont blame a new gm that tries to build from a shitty team to actually stay interested, as long as they dont get a 18 mill old guy So all this BS is complaining about a 7-13 pick which could be garbage with a class like last year

I did not notice Johns' post about sub 30 win teams can't trade 1st rounders, so it sounds like this trade will get vetoed anyway (sorry bluechips).
Saying that, I realize I don't know most of you guys in this league. I'm certain you guys don't know me, either. I'm glad you want to be active on the boards, as I know that's what makes a good league.
I just ask that you allow me to run my team as I see fit. If the Blazers suck, then they suck. That's not for you all to worry about.
I don't want to come across as mad, because I'm not. It's a basketball sim. I've got plenty of "real life" things going on to have real feelings about. These games are my temporary reprieve, my "getaway", so to speak.
I hope this makes sense.

By the way, bluechips, I'm not trying to back out of the deal. If John were to let it go through, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Just wanted to make that clear.

I just ask that you allow me to run my team as I see fit. If the Blazers suck, then they suck. That's not for you all to worry about. the reason why we do this is so crappy teams dont trade away their firsts, then quit the league, and cant get a GM because the team sucks and has no draft picks to work with. so really, the rule is in place to help the league, therefor, is our problem
